Homi Adajania Reflects on Working with Sara Ali Khan and Feeling the Passage of Time
Homi Adajania, known for his recent web show Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo, is currently basking in its success. With his next project, Murder Mubarak, already completed and starring Sara Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Dimple Kapadia, the director is excited about the murder mystery set in the upper echelons of society.
During a recent conversation, Homi expressed that the film carries a caustic aesthetic reminiscent of the late Irrfan Khan’s cinematic style.
Working with Sara Ali Khan, who happens to be the daughter of his previous leading man Saif Ali Khan in the film Being Cyrus, brought a realization to Homi—he felt a sense of aging. It has been 11 years since the release of his film Cocktail, which also featured Saif.
Homi’s projects, whether films or web shows, are known for their strong female characters. The director shared that this aspect comes naturally to him. For a long time, he was unaware and naive about gender inequality. Growing up, he was surrounded by powerful women who lived life on their own terms, unapologetically and without explanations, while staying true to their values. They understood that their actions originated from a good place and were ready to face the consequences.
