Varun Dhawan: “Not Chasing the Pack; Just Loving the Journey!”
Once just known as David Dhawan’s kiddo, Varun Dhawan’s now a force to be reckoned with in Bollywood. Remember him dancing his heart out in “Student Of The Year” alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt? Well, since then, he’s been lighting up the silver screen with hit after hit. And while the limelight might be tempting, in a recent tete-a-tete, Varun spilled the beans on what truly matters to him in the world of cinema.
Varun’s Take: Chillin’, Not Chasing Having started as Karan Johar’s sidekick on “My Name Is Khan”, Varun’s journey from backstage to center stage since 2012 has been nothing short of spectacular. And while plenty of newbies have been making waves in the movie biz, Varun’s focus isn’t on outpacing them. Chatting with ETimes, our “Bhediya” star got real. He said, “Man, a lot’s changed over the years. I’m not up for this whole rat race thing anymore. I’m good, right where I am. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got big dreams, huge even! But I’ve decided to play my cards close to my chest until I make ’em real.”
On the work front, Varun’s got his plate full. He’s on set for “VD18”, under the watchful eye of Atlee Kumar, the genius behind “Jawan”. Oh, and did we mention he’s dipping his toes into the OTT pool? Yep, with the TV series “Citadel”, the desi twist on the American hit starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Biopics? Here’s Varun’s 2 Cents Varun’s love for cricket’s no secret. And when asked if he’d pull a Sushant Singh Rajput with a cricketer’s biopic, like “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”, he said, “It’s a toughie, to be honest. I adore cricket. So if I’m stepping into those shoes, it’s got to be perfect, not just skin-deep. If I go down that road, I’d have to eat, breathe, live that part for a good 3-4 years, and nothing else.”
