Sanam Jung has said that she doesn’t wear a fat suit when she plays a fat woman in the latest drama, “Pyari Mona.”
Jung talked in the interview about the criticism the show was getting because Jung wore a fat suit in some episodes.
“When I first got there, they told me that I didn’t look right for the job and that I needed to gain 20 pounds. I didn’t want to do it at first, but when I started to like Mona, I changed my mind and said, “Okay, we have to do this.” Considering that we made Mona a bodysuit that was filled with a lot of cotton and was as heavy as a big blanket. I had to shoot in the summer, so it was a good thing. We did a lot of tests, and every time I wore it, it made my face look small and my body look big. Then, we both agreed that I needed to eat more to meet this obligation. I gained five kilogrammes at first, but that wasn’t enough. Then I gained about 7 or 8 kilogrammes, which made my boss happy. He said, “Now you look just like Mona!” I stopped going to the gym and put my plans to lose weight on hold because I had to stay in character during the shoots. I ate a lot of different things because I couldn’t pretend to eat while also spitting food out of the other side, since my character ate while we were filming. I had a lot of fun taking on the role of Mona.
Jung also talked about what made her want to act in “Pyaari Mona” and admitted that she had been through some of the same problems as her character. After turning down the drama the first time, Jung took the part again a year later.
“This is my story.” I’ve been through it. not really with her family in the sense that. But I’ve seen and done everything there is to see and do with people and society. I also thought that a lot of people were having the same problem. So, I’ve found a story that is very important for them and for me to tell. I thought the message was important because we’ll keep doing plays where the boy and girl meet and fall in love. But this play was different and had a clear message. I read it and fell in love with Mona right away.”
