Ekta Kapoor is accused by the Supreme Court for “polluting minds” of the young

In connection with their Alt Balaji online series XXX, Ekta Kapoor had asked the Supreme Court for protection from arrest warrants against her. The court advised the court not to submit similar applications.

Ekta Kapoor’s attempts to get the help of the legal system fell short as her Supreme Court harshly criticised the director for “polluting” the minds of younger generations. The court also issued a stern warning to the filmmaker to not make any further pleas, and ordered that if she did there is a cost to be imposed.

The Supreme Court was considering Ekta’s appeal against the warrants for arrest which were issued for her for inflicting harm on soldiers and their families with their families by the “objectionable content” of the online show XXX which was shown via the OTT platform ALTBalaji. This warrant was issued by the trial judge located in Begusarai, Bihar, in response to a claim made by an ex-serviceman called Shambhu Kumar, who claimed that in the second episode of the series, it had numerous unpleasant scenes that involved an officer’s wife.

According to PTI the the senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi acted in behalf of Ekta and asked that the court provide her with protection in the event that they’d previously done the same thing in a matter which was similar to this. The lawyer defended Ekta’s rights to take her own choices and also argued that the content in question is subscription-based. Ekta was criticised by a group of Justices Ajay Rastogi as well as C T Ravikumar after the lawyer said that, even though an application in the matter was filed with Patna High Court, there was no chance that it would be heard for hearing in the near future.

A bench from the Supreme Court uttered, “Something needs to be done. You are contaminating the minds of the younger generations of the country. The content is accessible to everyone. The OTT (Over The Top) content is accessible to everyone. What type of entertainment do you offer to people ?….on contrary, you are inflicting harm on the minds of young people.”

The court didn’t impose fees , but issued an order Ekta Ekta “Every when you go to this court, ….we do not appreciate it. We’ll impose a fee on you for submitting this type of petition. Mr. Rohatgi, please communicate this information to your client. Because you are able to afford and employ excellent lawyers, ….this court isn’t only for people with voices. The court is for people who do not have voices…if those who have many equipment, can’t be granted justice, then think about the situation of a common man. We’ve seen the ruling and we have reservations.”

The supreme court ruled against the plea and recommended the appointment of a local attorney to oversee the process on hearings in the Patna high court hearing.
