Richa Chadha Opens Up About Her Experience Working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Upcoming Film ‘Heeramandi’

Richa Chadha, known for her previous collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Ram Leela, recently shared insights into her working experience in Bhansali’s highly anticipated film, Heeramandi.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Richa admitted that working with Bhansali is challenging because he has a keen eye for the truth. She mentioned, “With Sanjay Leela Bhansali, you cannot lie. He can catch the lie in your eyes.” She praised the director’s mastery and explained that he can sense when an actor is not fully connected to their character, even if the technical aspects are executed well. She added, “He will know that I did it, it’s good, technically it’s fine. But it didn’t come from the heart. I should have done it differently.”

The Fukrey actress expressed her admiration for Bhansali’s dedication to pushing her to work hard. She shared an anecdote about wearing a microphone hidden under her dress, causing her heartbeat to be audible on the audio recording. She humorously explained, “I’m like, ‘It’s my heartbeat. What to do? I have to do a tough shot, so my heartbeat is racing.’ But yeah, I love working with people who push me in that manner.”

Reflecting on her experience working with Bhansali on Ram Leela, Richa mentioned that the director always strives for the best performance. While acknowledging that not every day can be 100 percent perfect, Bhansali would find ways to guide the actors to their best potential. She emphasized that excuses like having a headache or feeling unable to perform are not accepted on set.
