Zoya Akhtar told the cameraman, “I’m your boss,” when he didn’t do what she asked.
Even though her family has a bad reputation, Zoya Akhtar has made a name for herself in the film industry with movies like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy, and the web series Made In Heaven.
She is now working on a live-action musical movie called The Archies, which is based on a famous comic book series. The director recently said that when she first started out, her technicians chose to listen to her main actor instead of her.
Farah is the daughter of lyricist Javed Akhtar and screenwriter Honey Irani. She is the sister of actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar. Farhan was the star of her first movie as a director, Luck By Chance, which came out in 2009.
In an interview with The Hindu, Zoya, whose work has taken her far, said, “When I started directing (Luck By Chance), my brother was the lead actor, and he was already a well-known filmmaker.” So, I had some technicians ask him if the shot was good, and he had to say, “She is the director.”
She also said, “I took a Steadicam operator aside and told him, ‘I don’t think we can work together if you won’t talk to me.'” The cameraman replied, “But you’re like my sister.” I told her, “I’m your boss, not your sister.” We ended up becoming friends because of the friendly conversation.
Even though Luck by Chance got good reviews, it didn’t do well at the box office. Two years later, she made the very popular movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Zoya is getting ready for the second season of Made in Heaven. She is also working on The Archies, which will be the first movie for Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan’s son Agastya Nanda.
