Sonakshi Sinha Overwhelmed by the Response to Dahaad, Feels Like a Fresh Debut

On her 36th birthday, Sonakshi Sinha is not only receiving warm wishes from fans, friends, and family but also celebrating the success of her recent venture, the series Dahaad directed by Reema Kagti. In the series, Sonakshi portrayed the role of a no-nonsense cop, leaving a lasting impression on the audience with her powerful performance. The actress expressed her excitement in an interview, revealing that she has been inundated with messages from people she hasn’t heard from in years.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sonakshi described herself as “overwhelmed” by the response she has received for her portrayal in Dahaad. The series, which also starred Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah, garnered immense appreciation on social media. Sonakshi shared her astonishment, stating, “It’s been incredible, so overwhelming. People who have not spoken to me in years are messaging me, those I don’t know from the industry have reached out. I was in a restaurant, random people walked up to me- not even for a photograph, but just to say they loved me in Dahaad. I don’t know how to deal with this right now.”

The actress expressed that she feels as if she has started her career anew. Sonakshi made her debut in Bollywood in 2010 with the film Dabangg, alongside Salman Khan. Reflecting on her recent success, she remarked, “I do feel like I have made my debut all over again. The last time I was appreciated like this was a long time ago, for Lootera in 2013, and then Akira. Even Kalank received praise, but not on this level.”

In a recent interview, director Reema Kagti mentioned that she always believed Sonakshi was “underutilized.” When asked about her opinion on this statement, Sonakshi responded, “Sometimes, not all the time. I always try and give my 100 percent and do the best that I can, regardless of the role assigned to me, be it good or bad. I am glad people like Reema and Zoya Akhtar have taken note of that and have given me a character that justifies my abilities. I hope more people do the same in the future.”

Looking ahead, Sonakshi Sinha has an exciting lineup of projects. She will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heera Mandi, alongside Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Additionally, she has the film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in the pipeline, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
