Shobha, Jeetendra’s girlfriend, was too guarded for anyone to approach him for a flirt, claims Mumtaz.

Throughout her busy career in the 1960s and 1970s, Mumtaz was regularly linked to a number of her co-stars. They included Rajesh Khanna, Shammi Kapoor, and others. Connecting with Jeetendra was really challenging because of his former lover and present wife, Shobha Kapoor.

In a recent interview, Mumtaz talked about Shobha and how possessive of Jeetendra she would be. “Jeetendra ke saath tuning hona mushkil tha,” is the sentence (it was difficult to get the tune right with Jeetendra). No one could make him flirt. Shobha, his former girlfriend and now Jeetendra’s wife, was envious of him.She had her heart set on marrying him. He still had high regard for me, as usual. The heroines, though, didn’t like me. “But I was still joyful,” she continued.

Rajesh Khanna’s divorce from Anju Mahendroo was another topic Mumtaz covered. “I was surprised. She was quite kind to Rajesh Khanna. She truly cared for him. She even gave his khaana-peena such meticulous care. We used to have dinner and drinks together, and I used to accompany Mayur when we went to watch Rajesh Khanna. I never once thought that they might break up. How can you end a relationship with someone like her in just one day? He didn’t have the right to behave that way. She advocated calling the person you don’t get along with, having a talk with them, and telling them what had happened. Rajesh Khanna eventually married Dimple Kapadia, with whom he had two children.

Mumtaz appeared in a recent episode of Indian Idol. She appeared on the show as a guest alongside Dharmendra and gave a performance for the participants. She married Mayur Madhvani in 1974 and took a break from acting.

The two children of Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor are Ekta and Tusshar. They are the grandparents of Lakshya and Ravie. Shobhaa is well known for producing some of the most popular daily soap operas on television with Ekta. She and Ekta will step down from their roles as Alt Balaji’s leaders, as was disclosed on February 10th.
