Renowned Pakistani Playwright and Actor Shoaib Hashmi Passes Away After Prolonged Illness

Shoaib Hashmi, a highly respected figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry known for his exceptional talent as a playwright, actor, teacher, and literary genius, has passed away after a prolonged battle with illness.

Hashmi had been bedridden for over a decade, his health gradually declining following a stroke. In the later years, he faced significant challenges and was unable to speak or walk independently. On May 15, 2023, he breathed his last, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.

Shoaib Hashmi’s contribution to Pakistan Television (PTV) remains unparalleled. He graced the screens in numerous iconic dramas during the 1970s, captivating audiences with his remarkable performances. Some of his notable works include “Taal Matol,” “Akkar Bakkar,” “Sach Gup,” and “Balila.”

In addition to his acting and showbiz endeavors, Shoaib Hashmi also wrote a column for a private newspaper, showcasing his profound insights and literary prowess. His remarkable achievements in the field were recognized with the Best Performance Award in 1995, and he was also honored with the prestigious Tamgha Imtiaz.
