Sharmeen Obaid Set to Helm Gucci CHIME Starring Alia Bhatt and Serena Williams

Renowned filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, recognized for her remarkable directorial achievements, is set to take the helm of the Gucci CHIME campaign, which will feature esteemed personalities Julia Roberts, the Hollywood actress, Alia Bhatt, the Bollywood actress, and Serena Williams, the renowned tennis player.

Gucci CHIME serves as a television campaign with a primary focus on promoting gender equality. Throughout the years, numerous celebrities from the worlds of sports and movies have actively participated in this initiative.

In an Instagram post, Obaid-Chinoy expressed, “As we gathered everyone on set and the cameras began to roll, our conversations inevitably centered around the pressing need for a world that embraces gender equality. In the fight for a more equitable society, who do you stand up for?”

Obaid-Chinoy’s repertoire includes directing several acclaimed films, featuring notable artists such as Annie Lennox, Halle Bailey, Julia Roberts, Idris Elba, Alia Bhatt, Serena Williams, and John Legend.

In an official press release, the director shared her thoughts, stating, “Gucci CHIME’s decade-long dedication to amplifying voices resonates deeply with me and my work. Each film in this new series serves as a vital reminder of the importance of championing those who strive for change. My hope is that this campaign will ignite conversations worldwide, urging everyone to contribute towards the creation of a more gender-equal future.”

Notably, Gucci raised a staggering $3.9 million in 2013 to support girls and women worldwide through “The Sound of Change: LIVE” concert, featuring renowned artists such as Beyoncé, Florence Welch, John Legend, and Jennifer Lopez.
