Pankaj Tripathi’s Unique Diet While Portraying Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Renowned for his simplicity, Pankaj Tripathi holds a deep affection for home-cooked meals, with khichdi being his favored dish. In a recent revelation, the actor shared that during the filming of Ravi Jadhav’s movie “Main Atal Hoon,” where he portrays the late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he fully immersed himself in the emotional depth of his character by exclusively consuming khichdi.
In a recent conversation with Film Companion, Pankaj Tripathi divulged details about his distinct dietary regimen during the extensive 60-day shoot of “Main Atal Hoon.” He disclosed that he remained committed to his self-prepared khichdi diet. His rationale? The actor explained, “You never know how others will make it. I add no oil or spices to it. I simply use plain lentils, rice, and locally available vegetables.”
The “Mimi” actor further stated, “When I was younger, I could act even after eating a samosa. But now, I don’t even recall when I last had a samosa. Nowadays, I require ‘Saatvik’ food to maintain my system.”
Tripathi emphasized the importance of actors adhering to a wholesome diet, not just for their physical well-being but also for the authenticity of their character portrayals. According to him, an actor’s ability to convey emotions effectively can be compromised if their stomach is upset due to consuming unhealthy food. Therefore, during filming, he exclusively opts for a khichdi diet to ensure he is in optimal condition, both physically and emotionally, to deliver a convincing performance.
“To capture the right emotion, there needs to be a synchronization between the mind and the body. For this reason, actors should consume light meals,” Pankaj noted.
“Main Atal Hoon” is a biographical film centered on the late statesman and former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Set for a theatrical release in December, the film boasts a musical score by Salim-Sulaiman, featuring lyrics by Sameer. The motion picture announcement is enhanced by the melodic vocals of the talented Sonu Nigam.
