New York paparazzi mistake Alia Bhatt for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Indian cinema sensation Alia Bhatt graced the prestigious Met Gala 2023, wearing a stunning ball gown designed by atelier Prabal Gurung. The Bollywood star looked gorgeous as she walked the red carpet, making her first appearance at the much-awaited event in New York City.

A video that surfaced on Reddit showed that New York paparazzi mistakenly identified Alia as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, another celebrated Indian actor who has already made her mark in the Western world in an iconic manner. However, Alia handled the situation with grace and poise, flashing a smile for the cameras. Her dress, made of ivory silk tulle and satin face organza, featured an exaggerated basque waist and hand-beaded pearls.

The designer Prabal Gurung helped Alia with the dress before she made her entrance at the event. Earlier in the day, Alia had taken to Instagram to explain the inspiration behind her white dress. She shared that she was inspired by the iconic Chanel brides, particularly supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look.

In her Instagram post, Alia mentioned that she wanted to do something that felt authentic and proudly made in India. The dress featured intricate embroidery made with 100,000 pearls, and it was a labour of love by Prabal. Alia paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld, the creative genius behind Chanel, in keeping with the theme of the gala.

Alia, who is set to make her Hollywood debut in the upcoming movie Heart of Stone alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan, left a lasting impression at the Met Gala 2023. Her confident walk and stunning outfit were admired by many, and her fans have been eagerly waiting for her Hollywood debut, which only adds to their excitement. Despite the mix-up with her identity, Alia’s poise and grace in handling the situation were a testament to her professionalism and star power in the entertainment industry.
