Fashion Designer Khadija Shah’s Health Declines While in Jail

Fashion designer Khadija Shah’s health reportedly took a turn for the worse while being held at Lahore’s Central Jail. Sources within the jail have revealed that Shah, who is one of the key suspects in the attack on the Lahore corps commander’s house, has been experiencing stomach issues over the past two days. Shah surrendered herself at Lahore’s Iqbal Town police station on May 23, following her alleged involvement in the attack.

Khadija Shah, the daughter of former finance minister Salman Shah, is suspected of playing a leading role in the May 9 attack on the Jinnah House, which serves as the residence of the Lahore Corps Commander. The attack took place after the arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in Islamabad.

After her surrender, Shah was remanded in judicial custody for seven days by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on May 24. The court had instructed the police to present Shah in court on May 30 for an identification parade and ordered a medical examination to be conducted.

Before turning herself in, Shah had shared an audio clip on social media, recounting the hardships her family had endured in recent days. She maintained her belief in democracy and the Constitution, despite the charges against her, stating that she had not committed any crime and considered herself a Pakistani who upholds democratic principles.

Earlier attempts by the police to apprehend Shah, including raids on residences in Gulberg and Bahria Town, proved unsuccessful. It was claimed that Shah had left her apartment wearing a burqa shortly before the police arrived and had been using a friend’s mobile phone for communication.
