In response to Pathaan’s box office success, actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt called it “probably the biggest blockbuster in Indian film.” In response to a question regarding Pathaan breaking Brahmastra’s box office record, Alia stated during the press conference for the 2023 Zee Cine Awards on Tuesday night. Varun Dhawan replied to a boycott movement that existed prior to Pathaan’s release.
Alia asserts that Pathaan, Gangubai, Kathiawadi, and Brahmastra don’t exhibit the same level of “violence” as other critics who have suggested that their success is a reaction to the hostility. Alia responded, “I don’t think we have so much aggression in us like that,” when asked how she and the other cast members handle criticism and detractors. We are incredibly grateful to be able to work and pursue our goal every day. And we think that the audience may say whatever they want about us since they are part of the audience. We will give it our all as long as we are able to amuse them.
She continued, “As an industry, we are pleased that a movie like Pathaan is not just a smash but very possibly the largest hit in Indian film.” That one deserves a clap from everyone, in my opinion. We appreciate occurrences like these and hope they will continue.
Ayan Mukerji, who directed Alia’s most recent movie, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, said that every movie needs to break every movie’s record. It has earned my utmost satisfaction. The record held by Brahmastra was afterwards surpassed by Pathaan. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed over 425 crores at the international box office.
According to Varun, who cautioned against paying heed to boycott trends, Pathaan’s popularity is evidence that consumers are merely interested in pure entertainment. “I’m not interested in talking about it,” he said. Why do we need to appreciate it so highly? If people are enjoying Pathaan, be happy. We shouldn’t discuss it in depth. The collections go over how well-liked Hindi and Indian films are. And by having some of this country’s most well-known actors in Pathaan, such as Shah Rukh sir, Salman bhai, Deepika Padukone, and John, you are giving the public what they want, namely entertainment.
Pathaan, a Yash Raj Films production, stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana, among others. The spy thriller faced boycott requests prior to its January 25 premiere because of the song “Besharam Rang.” But it was a great success at the box office, making $591 million in just six days.
Shah Rukh plays the lead in Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan, which is his first significant motion picture to be released in more than four years. The movie is the fourth instalment in producer Aditya Chopra’s spy universe, following Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War, both of which star Salman Khan (2019).
