Abhishek Bachchan Reveals Aishwarya Rai & Jaya Bachchan’s Involvement in ‘Paa’
Abhishek Bachchan recently graced the silver screen in R Balki’s sports-centric film “Ghoomer” where he starred opposite Saiyami Kher. His portrayal is garnering quite the applause. This isn’t his first rendezvous with the director. They first paired up in the 2009 cinematic creation “Paa”, which featured the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, alongside Abhishek and the talented Vidya Balan.

During a candid chat, Abhishek spilled the beans on R Balki’s incredible ability to pull the entire Bachchan clan into his projects. He also delved into the unexpected roles of Jaya Bachchan and his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, in “Paa”.
Bachchan’s Family & Films: A Special Bond
Chatting with Filmfare, Abhishek highlighted R Balki’s unmatched talent for assembling the entire Bachchan family for his ventures. He said, “R Balki has this uncanny ability. He’s perhaps the only one who can get us all, the Bachchans, in one film.” Diving deeper, he reminisced about Jaya Bachchan’s contribution to “Paa”. “It’s etched in my memory, being made a producer for Paa. My dad and I were its stars, but the next thing I knew, mom was voicing the title. It’s heartwarming, narrated by her. It’s a must-watch,” he warmly shared.
Aishwarya’s Ingenious Idea During “Paa”
Recounting a memorable episode from 2009 during the shooting of “Paa”, Abhishek shared a light-hearted moment involving his wife, Aishwarya Rai. “Having just landed from Goa in November 2009, I had just a day before flying back. In my dilemma of what to wear, especially since stylists weren’t our go-to then, Aishwarya, seeing me all flustered, suggested, ‘Why not your white kurta pajama and glasses? Embrace your character.’ I thought, that’s brilliant!”
Pitching this idea to R Balki, he said, “Ash suggests promoting it as Amol Arte?” The director’s enthusiastic reply was, “Fantastic! She should handle the promotions!” This became a running joke with R Balki, now endearingly dubbing Aishwarya the “marketing maestro”.

“Paa” remains a notable 2009 comic-drama under R. Balki’s direction. The film, boasting names like Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vidya Balan, delves into the unique bond of a boy with the rare genetic disorder, progeria, and his loving parents.
