Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt, is now available on OTT!On April 26, Netflix will premiere Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical drama. “Dekho Dekho Chand aaya,” said the notification on Netflix India’s social media account. Gangubai Kathiawadi is scheduled to arrive on April 26.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a matriarchal film about a madam who runs a brothel in Kamathipura. The film chronicles the narrative of young Ganga, who was sold by his boyfriend for merely Rs 500 and subsequently became a powerhouse in a redlight district, where she campaigned for the rights of sex workers.

Alia Bhatt has been lauded for her depiction of the role. The film has grossed approximately Rs. 1.3 billion globally so far.

With reference to Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi,

Gangubai Kathiawadi draws inspiration from the novel Mafia Queens. Sanjay Leela Bhansali directs the film, which stars Alia Bhatt as Gangubai Harjivandas, the madame of Kamathipura’s red-light district. Gangubai is sold into this realm at an early age in the film. It then shows her overcoming all obstacles to run it and becoming the Mafia queen as well. This is what it shows.

Apart from Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and Jim Sarbh, the film has a cast of several renowned actors. Alia Bhatt has described the film as one of the most difficult and gratifying experiences of her career. Huma Qureshi also appears in the film in a cameo role. According to rumors, Alia was paid a hefty Rs 20 crore for the role.

The crew began filming for the film on the 8th of December 2019 but was forced to cease production for an extended period due to the epidemic. According to early reviews, this may be Alia Bhatt’s greatest performance to date.
