Huma Qureshi Opens Up About Feeling ‘Lost’ After the Success of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’

Huma Qureshi has recently shared her feelings of being lost and insecure following the success of her breakthrough film, Gangs of Wasseypur. Despite the film being considered her most successful project, Huma reveals that it actually made her question herself and her career path.

Recalling her early success, Huma stated, “I got my first taste of success quite early on. Maybe it was just the excitement of stepping out of my comfort zone and pursuing acting, and then Gangs of Wasseypur happened. By 2010, I had moved to Mumbai, and by 2012, the film was released and became a big hit in India. My world completely changed.”

She further elaborated on the humble beginnings of the film, mentioning the modest payment she received and the absence of luxuries typically associated with the industry. Huma explained, “It was my first film, and it wasn’t a grand affair. There were no five-star hotels, fancy vanity vans, or an entourage of people. It was a group of individuals who went to Varanasi for three months, shot the film, and came back. Nobody had any idea what was going on.”

The sudden fame and recognition left Huma questioning her position in the industry. She questioned whether she should have been paid more, what her role as the lead meant, and whether this was how movies were made. The experience left her feeling lost and uncertain about her own identity and the direction of her career.

Huma admitted to struggling with insecurities, both personally and professionally, during this time. She felt unsure about her own voice, her appearance, and the choices she was making in her work. The lack of guidance and support made it difficult for her to navigate the situation, but she never considered giving up.

Despite her uncertainties, Huma remained resilient and determined. She continued to work in the industry and explore her own path, eventually finding her way and carving a niche for herself. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged the challenges she faced but expressed gratitude for the growth and self-discovery it brought her.
