Nawazuddin Siddiqui to exclusively portray lead roles in future projects

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has announced that he will only take on lead roles in films from now on, even if he has to finance them himself. He clarified that he doesn’t need to play the hero, but the role must be critical to the plot.
In the past, Nawazuddin has worked with Salman Khan in Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, as well as with Shah Rukh Khan in Raees. However, he hasn’t appeared alongside major stars in recent years, except for a brief cameo in Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4.
Explaining his decision in an interview, Nawazuddin said, “In this industry, the distinction between lead and side roles matters. In Europe or Hollywood, it does not matter. But here, supporting actors are relegated to secondary roles. I have somehow escaped that and I don’t want to repeat that. I will only do lead roles even if I have to invest money in the film myself.”
He clarified that he doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll only play the hero, citing his character in Raees as an example. Nawazuddin is currently promoting his upcoming film, Jogira Sa Ra Ra Ra, directed by Kushan Nandy and written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali. The film also stars Neha Sharma, Sanjay Mishra, Mahakshay Chakraborty, and Zarina Wahab.
Aside from Jogira Sa Ra Ra Ra, which hits theaters on May 12, Nawazuddin has several other projects in the works, including Tiku Weds Sheru, Noorani Chehra, Bole Chudiyan, and Haddi.
