Mrunal Thakur says that when Love, Sonia came out, no one in India saw it.
Mrunal Thakur’s first movie in the Telugu industry, Sita Ramam, was a huge hit.
Hanu Raghavapudi was in charge of making the movie, and Dulquer Salmaan played the main role. The movie Sita Ramam came out in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam theatres on August 5, 2022. The movie did well in its first few days and was one of the most popular Telugu movies of 2022. Recently, performers of the year awards were given to Rishabh Shetty, Adivi Sesh, Vidya Balan, Anil Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Mrunal.
During one of the chats, Mrunal was asked how it feels to move on when people who have seen a movie like it, but it doesn’t do well at the box office. The actress said, “Love, Sonia, was my first movie.” When the movie came out, nobody in India had seen it, but I felt a strong emotional connection to it. When we first showed the movie in Melbourne, the United States, Uzbekistan, and parts of Asia, people liked it a lot.
Mrunal went on, “I wondered why it didn’t do well in my own country, and that’s when I realised that maybe people weren’t ready to see that movie at that time.” People still recognise me as Sonia when I play Sonia. It’s impossible to get over the idea that missing a good movie hurts. Love Sonia also had performances by Rajkummar Rao, Manoj Bajpayee, Riya Sisodiya, Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Richa Chadda, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, and Sai Tamhankar.
The actress from Dhamaka will be seen next in Pippa, a movie with Ishaan Khatter and Priyanshu Painyuli. She stars with Aditya Roy Kapur in the Hindi version of the Tamil movie Thadam, Gumraah.
