“Tiger 3 Release Strategy: YRF’s Unique Choice”

The much-anticipated Bollywood action thriller “Tiger 3,” starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is set for release on Diwali, traditionally considered a less favorable day for film releases. Yash Raj Films (YRF), the production house behind the movie, has disclosed the reasoning behind this unconventional choice. Unlike typical Friday releases, “Tiger 3” is hitting theaters on November 12th, coinciding with Laxmi Pooja, a day with traditionally lower audience turnout. Rohan Malhotra, YRF’s VP of Distribution, explained in an interview with India Today that their strategy draws inspiration from the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” a day before Republic Day. Malhotra emphasized the importance of looking beyond opening day numbers, stating, “going on Laxmi Puja day, which is considered the weakest day to release a film, would be a better fit for our film.” He pointed out that a similar approach worked for “Pathaan,” focusing on the film’s lifetime collection rather than just the opening day. Malhotra expressed confidence in Salman Khan’s star power, anticipating success for “Tiger 3” at the box office. Ahead of the film’s release, both Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif urged fans to avoid revealing spoilers, emphasizing the value of preserving the movie-watching experience. Salman tweeted a request to protect the film’s surprises, while Katrina took to her Instagram story, stating that the plot twists and surprises in “Tiger 3” contribute to the overall entertainment and urging fans not to reveal spoilers.
