Akkshay Gunaawat says, “I thought I would get a job because I was tall, dark, and handsome.”

This year, three movies starring Akkshay Gunaawat came out all at once: Thar, Attack, and Prithviraj. He says that getting to play the main bad guy in Govinda Naam Mera was like a dream come true. For the first time, the actor got a poster for his role. He was called “Govinda ka kameena sautela bhai” because in the comedy drama he played Vicky Kaushal’s stepbrother. He says he likes movies from the 1990s and has always wanted to do a “full-on Bollywood entertainer” and play a “Dhansu” character. “My character seemed strong on the outside, but she was weak on the inside.” Akkshay says, “I chose for my character to be very afraid of physical violence.”

In Govinda Naam Mera, Akkshay plays a South Indian man with a moustache who wants Vicky’s run-down bungalow, which is worth “150 crores,” more than anything else.

“Some song sequences for Badrinath Ki Dulhania were shot in Kota by director Shashank Khaitan, and I was there to watch,” Akkshay said in an interview with Hindustan Times Bollywood meida.”It was like a dream come true to work with the same team.”

The filming began in March of last year, and because of COVID rules, the crew couldn’t be too close to each other. Akkshay says, “But the scenes were fun.” The actor also has a funny story about a scene where his character, Vishnu, met Vicky and his mother and offered them a lot of money to settle their case out of court. He says, “The wheelchair I bring for Vicky’s mother is one that runs on batteries. Before the shot, it worked fine, but when everything was set up, it stopped working and wouldn’t turn on at all. The group decided to pull it with a rope and put mid-range shots in between. So, we used a safety harness and seatbelt, and two or three people pulled the chair as I sat in it. And the scene was fine after the first try.”
