Mahira Khan discusses how actor friends protect one another across international borders.

In a media interview, Mahira Khan emphasised the political situation that is detrimental to both nations. Due to tensions between India and Pakistan, she was unable to participate in promotional interviews despite her significant role in Raees. During this period, India banned Pakistani artists.
She described her experience by saying, “I had the most incredible time working in India. So many people remain in contact with me, and there is a great deal of affection there. We are unfortunately easy targets, soft targets, whether we are in Pakistan or in India.”Because we are artists and are connected by art, we actually understand each other.”
She continued, “So we’re trying to look out for each other above all else. Even now, we are extremely cautious about what we post on social media. It’s not that we don’t communicate with each other. It’s not that we do not celebrate each other’s birthdays. It’s not that we never cross paths in different nations. It’s just that we’re actually protecting each other as well as ourselves.”
She also mentioned that politics is the cause of this conflict. She stated, “Unfortunately, it’s politics and nothing personal. On both sides, until the time when scapegoats are required, we will continue to be… However, let’s assume that things improve. Suppose there is a person in authority who does not use us as easy targets. That would be delightful. Can you even imagine the collaboration? It would be delightful.”
