Taapsee Voices Concern Over Bollywood Camps, Joining Priyanka in Criticism

Taapsee Pannu Speaks Up Against Bollywood Camps, Echoing Priyanka’s Concerns

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Taapsee Pannu, the talented Bollywood actor, shared her thoughts on the existence of camps and power dynamics in the Hindi film industry. Pannu’s statements came in the aftermath of Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ revelations about camps in Bollywood, shedding light on the darker side of the showbiz industry. While Pannu refrained from directly commenting on Chopra’s remarks, she expressed her long-standing stance on the issue.

Pannu acknowledged the presence of camps in Bollywood, stating that it has been a known phenomenon for a long time. She explained that camps can be formed based on an actor’s friend circle, association with a specific agency, or belonging to a particular group, and people’s loyalties can vary accordingly.

However, Pannu refrained from harboring resentment towards the industry or blaming it for favoring insiders. She believes that individuals should have the freedom to choose their collaborators in films, as everyone prioritizes their own careers. Pannu considers blaming the industry for its biases to be futile.

Being an outsider herself, Pannu acknowledges that staying relevant in Bollywood is a constant battle. Despite the challenges, she refuses to harbor bitterness as she was always aware of the industry’s unfair nature. Pannu questions the point of complaining about biases when she knew about them from the beginning. She firmly believes that if someone chooses to be a part of the industry despite its biases, they cannot later complain about it.

What gives Pannu solace and the courage to continue is the realization that biases exist in all walks of life, not just in the film industry. She points out that in almost any profession, except perhaps sports, camps and favoritism exist to some extent. However, in the end, success is determined by one’s talent and hard work, not just luck.

With multiple film projects lined up for release this year, including Dunki, Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, and Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?, Pannu stresses that this discussion is not new. Outsiders, like herself, have repeatedly highlighted the struggles they face while trying to establish themselves in Bollywood.

Pannu explains that entering the industry is just the first step, and once inside, there is a struggle to make one’s presence felt. She emphasizes the need for consistent self-validation with each film, as success in one project does not guarantee a smooth journey for the next decade. Maintaining a position in the industry requires continuous dedication and hard work, especially for those without a background in the film industry.

Pannu’s candid remarks shed light on the reality of camps and biases in Bollywood. While acknowledging the challenges faced by outsiders, she encourages individuals to focus on their choices and career paths instead of dwelling on the unfairness. With her unwavering determination and a slate of promising films, Pannu continues to make her mark as a talented actor in the Hindi film industry.
