Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s film ‘Bawaal’ to skip a theatrical release, heads to OTT platform

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s highly anticipated film “Bawaal” is taking a different route for its release. Instead of hitting the traditional cinema screens, the movie will now be released directly on an OTT (Over-The-Top) platform in October.

The decision to opt for an online release was made after discussions involving the film’s director, Nitesh Tiwari, as well as the lead actors, Janhvi and Varun, and the producer, Sajid Nadiadwala.

OTT platforms are known for providing subscription-based video-on-demand services, offering content directly to viewers via the Internet.

Interestingly, “Bawaal” has a unique storyline revolving around World War and does not feature any music or background sounds. Given this distinctive aspect, the stakeholders felt that releasing the film on an OTT platform would provide a convenient way to convey its voice through digital media.

Sources suggest that “Bawaal” offers a poetic visual experience and is expected to be well-received on the digital platform. The film is being produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

The shooting for “Bawaal,” directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has already been completed. Last year, Janhvi Kapoor shared behind-the-scenes images from the set, announcing the successful completion of the shoot.
